In today's edition of Dairy News, a publication by Rural News Group is an article taken from an interview I did with the Dairy News team, post a recent sustainability symposium I attended in Berlin.

I would be interested in your thoughts on what sustainability means to yourself and your business?

I truly feel I don’t approach this subject from an ignorant viewpoint, sustainability is something dear to all primary industry participants; however I am at a loss at times how it can be financially viable in some sectors within the primary industry.

If I look back over my 20 years in the primary industry, personally I can think of many occasions where by projects, protocols etc etc have been entered into so as to ensure products, produce, dairy products etc etc can be exported or supplied into the domestic market. Do we do all this work to gain a passport to supply so to speak, or is it a fundamental leaning of our businesses?
