Plenty of Spring Action on the Grass Silage Front

18 September 2013

The Waikato region are into full on grass silage mode with annual winter ryegrass crops being sprayed out and mowen for silage.

Grass growth through the mild winter has been phenomenal. Some growers / contractors started silage harvest in July! WOW

Weather has the feel at this early point to be a great Maize season, for both grain and silage...

With the ability for Sharpen to broaden the weed spectrum of glysophate and ensure an even better result. Please let me know if you are working through the issue that Sharpen CANNOT be sprayed pre silage mowing? Is anyone changed their practise to mow, harvest silage, then come in with Sharpen + glyphosate, taking advantage of the quicker burndown and weed spectrum.

Thank you to Grant McDonald of Pioneer NZ. Have to say, with developing new active ingredients in the maize herbicide sector, Pioneer have been fantastic to work with.

So what are your silage crops looking like thus far, are you in agreeance that the season is looking like a gooden?
